MenelikMusic is a company that brings the world to your doorstep. We feature diverse types of music and food from all corners of the world to appeal to Cambridge’s colourful mix of cultures. It is our goal to reach out to a cosmopolitan population who have a passion for music and food. MenelikMusic gives you a chance to sample music and culture and indulge yourself in a sound both traditional and new.
Founded in 2006 by Theodore Menelik-Mfuni, MenelikMusic started by bringing UK based bands, then in 2007 it began to also invite international bands grooving to the beat at St Paul’s Centre in Cambridge.
Our feature performer is Kanda Bongo Man who is an icon in Africa, but also in most countries around the world. His music captures the exotic sound of the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire) spirit mixed with a touch of the modern.
Through MenelikEducation, a branch of MenelikMusic, we support meaningful educational projects in poorer parts of the world and we are currently working in Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo). Please visit our "Education" page to find out more.
